Physician Assistant - Cardiac Surgery

Penn State Health Heart and Vascular Institute is seeking a qualified Physician Assistant to join our Cardiac Surgery team based at Holy Spirit Medical Center, with the opportunity to provide coverage at Milton S. Hershey Medical Center as needed. Both locations are conveniently situated in the greater Harrisburg, Pennsylvania area.

In this role, the Physician Assistant will function as an integral member of the multidisciplinary cardiac surgery team, providing comprehensive care across the continuum of the surgical experience. Responsibilities include first assisting in the operating room, performing endovascular vein harvesting, managing preoperative and postoperative patient care, interpreting diagnostic tests, coordinating patient referrals, and collaborating closely with the supervising cardiac surgeons to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.

Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
• Current or eligible Pennsylvania Physician Assistant licensure.
• Prior experience caring for cardiac surgery patients is required.
• 2 years of endovascular vein harvesting is required.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certified.
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced surgical environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Radial artery harvesting experience.
