Locum MD (Medical Doctor), DO (Osteopathic Doctor) Gastroenterology

Description

This is a contract, on-site position designed for an Associate-level physician who is looking to make an immediate impact in a dynamic healthcare environment.

As a Locum Gastroenterology physician, you will play a key role in providing high-quality patient care, diagnosing and managing gastrointestinal disorders, and performing endoscopic procedures. You will collaborate closely with our dedicated medical staff, ensuring continuity of care and superior patient outcomes. Our practice offers a supportive environment for professional growth and clinical excellence.

 

Responsibilities

• Provide expert outpatient and inpatient gastroenterology consultations and evaluations
• Perform diagnosticand therapeutic endoscopic procedures, including upper endoscopy and colonoscopy
• Developand implement individualized treatment plans for patients with gastrointestinal conditions
• Interpret diagnostic tests, such as imaging, lab results, and pathology reports
• Collaborate with primary care physicians, surgeons,andi other specialists to optimize patient care
• Maintain accurateand timely medical documentation incompliance with legal and regulatory standards
• Participatein on-call rotations and emergency gastroenterology coverage as needed
• Educate patientsand families on treatment plans, medications, and preventive care
• Adhereto infection control and safety protocolswithin the medical practice
• Support quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient outcomesand satisfaction

Requirements

• Medical Doctor(MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine(DO) degree from an accredited institution
• Board certification oreligibilityin Gastroenterology
• Active, unrestricted medical licensein the applicable state for this locum assignment
• Associate-level clinical experience(or equivalent) in gastroenterology practice
• Proficiencyin performing endoscopic procedures such as colonoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy,and upper endoscopy
• Strong diagnostic, clinical reasoning,and problem-solving skills
• Excellent patient communicationand interpersonal skills
• Abilitytowork effectivelyina fast-paced, on-site clinical environment
• Familiaritywith electronic medical records(EMR) systems
• Commitmentto delivering high-quality, evidence-based patient care

Schedule: Monday-Friday (7a-5p), 1 week/month

Call Requirement: Friday 4:30p – Monday 7:30a, 1 weekend/month

Setting: Inpatient

Patient Volume: 10-15 per day

Support Staff: APP

EMR: Epic

Must be board-certified

Additional Certifications: ACLS and BLS
