Inspector/Sprayer IV - MC

Department Mosquito Control Department Organizational Unit Countywide Mosquito Control Position Type Permanent, Full Time Salary and Schedule $22.11 hourly. Salary negotiable based on experience. Pays reach South Area/Valkaria/Travels Countywide. Work schedule: Monday-Friday 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.; may include evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime. Overview Performs skilled technical and service work, leading projects, supervising employees, and may act as Mosquito Control Supervisor. Requirements Eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in mosquito control application. Experience includes automotive or water‑craft operation, documenting service activity, developing and documenting electronic and written records, project or task management, and at least three of: aircraft support, construction, heavy equipment operation, equipment repairs, impoundment operations, airboat operations, fogging system operations. Additional education cannot substitute for the required experience. Special Requirements Valid Florida Class B Commercial Driver’s License, maintained throughout employment. Certification as an Arthropod Control Applicator per Florida Statute 388.361(4). Experience identifying mosquitoes and larvae; ability to choose appropriate chemicals. Physically capable of wearing and using respiratory protection; may need to pass a respiratory physical for SCBA. Completed University of Florida Advanced Inspector Sprayer Course. Able to work extended hours during peak seasons, outbreaks, fire, or overtime. Potential to perform emergency duties during disasters.
