Payment Product Operations Specialist

Overview Wise is a global technology company, building the best way to move and manage the world’s money. The role is for an exceptional Payment Product Operations Specialist to join the North America Payment Operations team in Austin. This is a dynamic position at the intersection of Product, Engineering, and Operations, focused on scalability in the USD and CAD markets and transforming complex payment hurdles into seamless, automated systems. This role is not a traditional operations role. It targets fast-paced growth and autonomy, with the goal of making Wise’s North American payment rails efficient and seamless for customers. Responsibilities Scale the "+Unscalable": Audit USD/CAD payment routes to identify manual friction and build automation and workflow improvements to eliminate them. Bridge the Gap: act as the strategic connective tissue between Product, Engineering, and Ops teams, translating technical constraints into operational reality and vice versa. Own the Lifecycle: lead high-impact projects from scoping and data analysis to final rollout; own the "+Go" button. Drive Data-Informed Strategy: use SQL and LightDash to define and track KPIs; demonstrate impact through metric improvements. Amplify the Team: mentor and partner with Senior Specialists on complex project delivery, scoping, and execution. SME Leadership: serve as the North American subject matter expert; be the first-line strategist for mitigation and resolution during complex payment incidents or regulatory shifts. Build the Blueprint: establish SLAs and KPIs for new product features to maintain quality as Wise grows. What You’ll Do Experience true autonomy: own your domain, projects, and results; you help draw the roadmap. Drive local impact with global reach: contribute to building a large market for a global FinTech from the Austin office. Embrace global scale and local culture: work on problems affecting millions globally while engaging with the Austin full-stack office. Do mission-driven work: automate manual tasks and improve processes to positively impact customers’ money movement. Qualifications Experience: 3+ years in Product Operations, Business Operations, or Process Optimization within a high-growth tech environment. Analytical: proficient in SQL and LightDash; able to extract the narrative from data. Execution-focused: track record of taking initiatives from concept to successful launch. Clear communicator: explain complex bottlenecks to stakeholders and translate business needs to developers. Grit: comfortable making decisions with incomplete information and adapting quickly. Bonus — Payments knowledge: deep knowledge of North American payment rails (FedWire, FedACH, FedNow, RTP) is a competitive advantage.
