Collections Specialist

LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a client in Columbus, OH to hire a Collections Specialist. This position will be responsible for traditional collections activities, including contacting businesses and individuals regarding outstanding balances, securing payment, and following up on accounts.

While previous collections experience can be beneficial, our client is especially interested in candidates who bring a strong customer service background and a positive, relationship-focused approach. Individuals coming from hospitality, retail, customer service, or leadership roles who are comfortable having direct conversations and asking for payment could be a great fit.

Responsibilities:

Contact businesses and individuals regarding past-due balances and work to secure payment

Follow up consistently on outstanding accounts and payment commitments

Provide a positive customer experience while having direct and sometimes challenging conversations regarding payment

• Research account discrepancies and work with customers to address questions or concerns
  
• Collaborate with internal teams to resolve account issues and support collection efforts
  
• Document collection activity, customer communication, payment arrangements, and account updates
  

Qualifications

• Previous experience in customer service, hospitality, retail, or another highly customer-facing environment
  
• Prior lead, supervisory, or management experience is a plus
  
• Strong communication skills with the confidence to ask for payment while maintaining a positive customer relationship
  
• Upbeat, personable, and professional approach to customer interactions
  
• Ability to remain persistent and goal-focused while demonstrating empathy and strong customer service
  
• Strong organization, follow-through, and ability to work collaboratively within a team
  

Pay Details: $65,000.00 to $70,000.00 per year
