Who We Are
Spark the Journey is a 30-year-old DC based nonprofit organization on a mission to help young adults unlock their full potential. Through mentorship and a powerful community of support, we empower young people to define their own paths, whether that’s college, career, or personal success. Building on the legacy of Capital Partners for Education, we now support more than 600 mentees as they navigate the transition into adulthood. What makes Spark unique is our deep, relationship-driven approach, connecting young adults with mentors who guide, support, and champion them every step of the way. If you’re passionate about creating opportunity, building community, and making a real difference in someone’s future, this is the place to start your journey.
About the Role
Spark the Journey is seeking a Salesforce & Systems Administrator to serve as the day-to-day steward of our Salesforce platform and help strengthen the systems that support our programs, fundraising, and operations.
As a member of the Data & Systems team, you will work across Development, Operations, and Programs to ensure Salesforce effectively supports donor and donation management, contacts and accounts, program data, reporting, and organizational needs.
This is a technical and collaborative role responsible for maintaining a reliable Salesforce environment, improving processes through automation and integrations, supporting staff, and ensuring system knowledge is well documented and shared.
Key Responsibilities

Systems, Automation & Integrations
- Partner with teams to understand business processes and translate organizational needs into practical Salesforce solutions.
- Build, test, and implement automations and system improvements that increase efficiency and support fundraising, program, and operational goals.
- Evaluate native Salesforce functionality, AppExchange applications, middleware, and other solutions based on Spark’s needs and budget.
- Maintain and enhance integrations with platforms including LearnUpon, Give Lively, FormAssembly, Mailchimp, and other organizational systems.
- Manage testing and deployment of system changes and monitor new functionality to ensure successful implementation.
Documentation, Training & Staff Support
- Maintain clear documentation of Salesforce configurations, integrations, and key processes.
- Create practical, user-friendly guides and resources for common Salesforce tasks.
- Provide individual and group training on new and existing functionality.
- Keep documentation and training current as systems and processes evolve.
- Help staff use Salesforce effectively by providing responsive, solutions-oriented support.
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree required; degree in information systems, data management, nonprofit management preferred, or equivalent education and experience.
- 3+ years of relevant professional experience working with data, CRM systems, technology, operations, fundraising systems, or related functions, including at least 2 years of hands-on Salesforce administration experience.
- Active Salesforce Platform Administrator Certification (or higher).
- Working knowledge of Salesforce configuration and setup, Flows, object manager, and lightning app builder.
- Experience managing data on Contacts, Accounts, Opportunities, and custom objects through data imports, exports, and deduplication.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to translate business needs into system solutions and work effectively with non-technical users.
Nice to Have:
- Salesforce experience in a nonprofit environment, including Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP) or Nonprofit Cloud.
- Salesforce Platform Administrator II (Advanced Admin) Certification and/or Platform App Builder Certification.
- Experience with API integrations or integration tools such as Zapier.
