Medical AssistantLocation Hoboken, NJPosition Description A Certified Medical Assistant supports providers by performing both clinical and administrative duties in compliance with New Jersey regulations.Roles ResponsibilitiesPreparing patients for examinations by escorting them to exam rooms, confirming patient information, and reviewing chief complaintsMeasuring and documenting vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respirations, height, weight, and BMIUpdating and maintaining accurate patient medical histories in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) systemAssisting physicians and other healthcare providers during exams and minor proceduresAdministering injections and immunizations as delegated and permitted under New Jersey scope-of-practice guidelinesPerforming phlebotomy and collecting specimens (blood, urine, swabs) for laboratory testingConducting EKGs and other basic diagnostic proceduresRemoving sutures, changing dressings, and performing wound care as directedEducating patients on medications, treatment plans, and follow-up instructionsCleaning, disinfecting, and restocking exam rooms and ensuring proper sterilization of medical instrumentsEnsuring compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and infection control standardsScheduling appointments and managing provider calendarsAnswering phones and addressing patient inquiries professionallyVerifying insurance information and assisting with referrals and authorizationsProcessing prescription refill requests under provider supervisionCoordinating communication with laboratories, pharmacies, and external providersSkillsCompletion of an accredited Medical Assistant programActive Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credentialKnowledge of New Jersey medical assistant scope-of-practice regulationsExperience in a clinical or ambulatory healthcare setting (preferred)Proficiency with EHR systems and medical documentationStrong understanding of medical terminologyCurrent CPR/BLS certificationStrong communication and interpersonal skillsExcellent organizational and multitasking abilitiesAttention to detail and accuracy in clinical documentationCompassionate and patient-centered approach to careAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environmentExperience in internal medicineBilingualEducationCertified Medical Assistant (CMA) through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
