Position Summary In accordance with the mission and philosophy of Dignity Health, the Staff Chaplain is a professional who assumes responsibility and accountability for providing pastoral care for patients, their families and facility staff. Incumbents in this position shall comply with all applicable laws and rules including the Dignity Health Standards of Conduct and Dignity Health policies and procedures that apply to his/her job responsibilities, seek guidance when in doubt, promptly report any potential or suspected violation of Dignity Health Standards of Conduct, Dignity Health policy or procedure or applicable laws/regulations called upon, the incumbent shall assist in risk evaluation and work collaboratively with facility/entity leaders to implement, monitor and mitigate risk corrective plans outlined by the Compliance program. Responsibilities The Staff Chaplain serves as a pastoral caregiver who provides spiritual, emotional, and practical support to patients, families, and staff. The Chaplain collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to integrate spiritual care into clinical care plans, conducts individual and group spiritual counseling, facilitates family rituals and rites, assists with end‑of‑life and bereavement support, participates in interdisciplinary rounds and care conferences, and maintains documentation of spiritual assessments and interventions. The Chaplain serves as a resource for staff by providing ongoing spiritual and emotional support, training on chaplaincy topics, and by fostering a culture of spiritual care throughout the organization. Additionally, the Chaplain assists in risk assessment, compliance oversight, and implements corrective plans as needed in partnership with facility leaders and the Compliance program. Qualifications Successful completion of four units of Clinical Pastoral Education is required. Graduate of high school or equivalency. Eligible for professional chaplain certification within two years preferred. Electronic Health Record (EHR) experience preferred.
