Lineman Department: Electric Operations Employment Type: Full Time Location: Central Parkway Service Center Reporting To: General Construction Supervisor Description Provides customer electric service by performing construction, maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of all overhead and underground distribution lines, service lines, sub-transmission lines and substation equipment. Constructs and repairs overhead and underground distribution lines. Installs and repairs service lines for residential, commercial, and industrial customers according to applicable National Electric Safety Code (NESC) and electric construction standards. Installs and repairs transformers. Constructs and repairs 46kv sub-transmission lines. Performs energized line work on 17 kv and below. Operates and maintains specialized line construction and rigging equipment. Uses specialized test equipment, such as voltmeters, ammeters, phasing meters and ohmmeters. Reads and interprets blueprints, drawings and work orders. Reads and interprets traffic control manuals referenced by Decatur Utilities. Provides training and assistance to Apprentice Linemen and Crewmen to develop skills associated with line work with emphasis on safety and quality workmanship. Communicates with customers and investigates trouble calls. Assesses work situations to ensure that all safety policies and procedures are followed. May occasionally be assigned lead responsibilities in absence of lead lineman. Skills, Knowledge and Expertise High School diploma or GED. Minimum 6-8 years related work experience in electric utility (4 years as Lineman Apprentice). Ability to read, interpret, comprehend and follow documents such as safety rules, National Electric Safety Code, operating and maintenance instructions, drawings and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to interact and effectively communicate with customers, co-workers, supervisors. Valid Alabama Driver’s License with Class A CDL; approved Journey Lineworker Certification; CPR/First Aid Certification; Customer Service Skills and applicable safety training. #J-18808-Ljbffr Decatur Utilities
