The main department is 21-beds in Layton City as part of the hospital. It is a Level 3 Trauma center, a Primary Stroke center, and a Chest Pain center with an average volume of over 2000 patients per month. The other is a stand-alone Emergency Department in Roy City that has 14 beds and sees an average volume of over 28 patients each day. Team members in these departments are courageous, motivated and have a keen interest in emergency medicine. With a variety of patients, this team treats anything and everything, from traumas, heart attacks, septic and psychiatric patients to sore throats, earaches, lacerations, and ingrown toenails. The ED is a fast paced and intense environment that fosters a culture of teamwork and comradery. Prioritizing, multi-tasking, critical thinking, and assisting others are extremely important. This department is a great place to learn and become proficient in multiple nursing skills. Training is intense and never-ending. A strong knowledge of all disease and injury physiology and processes is extremely important. You will work alongside board certified emergency physicians and highly skilled PAs and NPs. We look for candidates who are hard workers, adaptable, not afraid to ask questions, accept criticism, be flexible with schedules, team players, fast learners, and able to see the broader picture of patient care.
