Food Service Worker

Position Summary The Food Service Worker position encompasses all the general duties in the Food & Nutrition Services Department. Job Duties Check daily assignment schedule. Review production sheets and menus and assemble food and supplies as needed for daily salad and cold food preparation for patient tray line. Prepare salad mixes and sandwich spreads following standardized recipes; portion salad plates and add vegetables using proper utensils, prepare desserts, juices, garnish sandwiches and specialty items as directed. Work all stations on the patient tray line with efficiency and accuracy, maintaining proper portion control of all food items served. Assist in setting up the patient tray line for meal service. Deliver and retrieve patient trays throughout the hospital, including late trays; conduct all contact with patients and visitors in a professional manner. Strip patient trays, sort trays, load, operate and unload dishwasher; stack trays on drying trucks; separate bottoms and tops onto separate drying trucks; clean patient delivery trucks. Sanitize tray line and cold preparation area, including worktables, drawers, utensils and refrigerators, in conjunction with the department’s cleaning procedures. Sanitize trucks, pot wash and porter duties. Perform other related duties as assigned. Perform all other duties as required. Position Requirements Formal Education and Job-Related Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 1‑year job‑related experience. Desired (not required) Criteria: Flexible schedule (shift changes); previous food service or dietetic experience preferred. High School Diploma or Equivalent Preferred.
