Summary
Manages and provides direction and focus for storing, managing and accessing health information in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) across MyMichigan Health. Leverages best practices in EMR clinical workflows and service lines for planning, developing, implementing and maintaining services of all MyMichigan Health customers. Manages cross-functional matrices, projects, optimization and staff development. Works closely with IT, clinical leadership and MPG, participates in the planning and implementation of all MyMichigan Health EMR applications. Delivers solutions that ensure compatibility and integration with hospital strategies and business plans. Determines work staffing allocations, delivers performance appraisals and works with staff to monitor performance and resolve technical and project issues.Responsibilities (20%)* Process/ Best practices/ Continuous Improvement - Provides focus and direction to process improvements in supporting clinical users of the EMR system by identifying workflow or software improvements, while working closely with user champions and clinical and business leadership. Provide direction that best practices and processes are followed (e.g., testing, change control, and implementation
planning.)
(20%)* Content Knowledge & Leadership - Coordination and oversees the IT management of clinical EMR applications. Serve as subject matter expert across solutions and providing troubleshooting and process expertise leveraging and developing team expertise. Ensure design decisions include considerations
across solutions and fall within scope.
(20%)* Collaboration with departments, practices and IT partners - Works with clinical departments, practices, call center, education, ancillary, and technology teams to
coordinate IT responses to user requests, problem solving, and collaborating solutions. Coordinates resources and prioritizes with clinical and revenue cycle business and IT support personnel.
(20%)* Projects/ Request Management - Develops and leverages team leads for creation of project work plans and tasks for IT requests, Manage the IT requests through monitoring resource assignment, prioritizing requests with stakeholders, to optimize resource allocation and execution of project, IT request, and support tasks.
(20%)* People Management / Development - Assess skills of MyMichigan Health business and application IT team, create professional development plans to help them acquire the skills needed to support the EMR system effectively and coach them through the learning process. Ensure self and team maintains professional development and growth to keep abreast of changes in EMR technology and healthcare in general. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide excellent customer service to all customers while performing duties. All other duties as assigned.
Certifications and Licensures NIMS IS 100: NIMS IS 100 Introduction Incident Command System Within 6 months of hire or transfer NIMS IS 700: NIMS IS 700 Introduction National Incident Mgt System Within 6 months of hire or transfer NIMS IS 200: NIMS IS 200 Basic Incident Command System Initial Response Within 6 months of hire or transfer
Required Education Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business, Health Care or STEM related field required. Master's degree preferred.
A combination of education and experience may be considered.
Other Information EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS: Seven (7) years of progressive experience in Information Systems or related field.
Experience with implementation and leading EMR or clinical IT projects. Demonstrated ability to be self-directed with excellent organizational, analytical, writing, interpersonal and project related skills. A combination of education and experience may be considered. Minimum of three (3) years supervisory experience. MyMichigan Health is a technology driven organization and employees need to demonstrate competency in Microsoft Windows. Employees are required to take a Computer Skills Assessment via the learning management system upon hire. Based on the results of the assessment, an employee may be required to participate in further learning opportunities offered by MyMichigan Health. Experience working with EMRs, preferably EPIC. Experience working with vendors dealing with contracts and billing. Experience working with Ancillary systems. PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death.
Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position. Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description.
Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s). Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.
Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required.
Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake. Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.
Physical Demand Level: Light. Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 11-20 lbs., frequently (34-66% of the workday) 10 lbs. and or Walk/Stand/Push/Pull of Arm/Leg controls.
