Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: CVICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2+ years required License: Active RN License (WV or Compact License - Pending License Acceptable) Certifications: ACLS, BCLS, NIH Must-Have: - Experience with Activated Clotting Time - Direct open-heart admissions from OR experience - Pressure monitoring experience - Swan-Ganz management experience - Impella monitoring experience - CRRT experience Description: The CVICU is seeking a Registered Nurse experienced in caring for cardiothoracic surgery patients. Candidates must have direct experience with open-heart admissions from the operating room. The nurse will manage pressure monitoring and Swan-Ganz catheters. Experience with Impella devices and Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) is required. The nurse will assist with patient care for conditions such as cardiogenic shock and post-cardiac surgery recovery. The patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:2 based on acuity, with possible overflow patients at times. Candidates must possess strong cardiac surgery skills and be able to interpret arterial blood gases and dysrhythmias. Skills in central line care, blood product administration, and management of ventilated patients are essential. Experience with procedural sedation administration and monitoring is preferred. The position involves collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, including IV teams and respiratory services. A commitment to infection prevention and a high standard of patient care is expected.
