Registered Nurse

Location: Jacksonville, FL FTE: Full-Time (.9 FTE) Shift: Nights

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides patient-centered nursing care using the nursing process and established standards of professional nursing practice. The RN maintains overall accountability for assigned patients and may serve as Charge Nurse when assigned.

Key Responsibilities

• Provides direct nursing care using the nursing process and established standards of practice.
• Maintains overall accountability and responsibility for assigned patients.
• Performs all responsibilities associated with the staff nurse role.
• Functions as Charge Nurse when assigned.
• Delegates appropriate patient care activities to Technical Nurses, Patient Care Associates, and Sitters while maintaining responsibility for patient care.
• Provides care appropriate to each patient's age and developmental needs.

Education

• Associate's Degree required
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• New hires effective June 14, 2017, must obtain a BSN within three (3) years of hire or transfer
• Employees hired/transferred between August 1, 2013, and June 13, 2017, must follow the requirements outlined in their offer letter and job description
• Employees hired/transferred prior to August 1, 2013, are grandfathered
• BSN preferred

Required Skills

• Demonstrates teamwork and professional communication with members of the healthcare team
• Ability to learn and apply computer technologies and procedures that support patient care delivery

Licensure & Certifications

• Licensed to practice nursing in the State of Florida, or confirmation of eligibility for licensure upon receipt of SSN
• BLS from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required on the first day of employment
• ACLS at hire or transfer required for:
• Cardiac Holding Area (730501)
• CVICU (730400)
• MICU (700400)
• PICU (660401)
• North Pre-Op/PACU (633680)
• Trauma Center (713100)
• ACLS within six (6) months required for:
• 3 ICU-North (620480)
• 5N CCU (730301)
• Cardiac Rehab (733100)
• Non-Invasive Cardiology North (733080)
• Non-Invasive Cardiac Lab (733000)
• Progressive RNs in Intensive Care Units
• PALS within six (6) months required for PICU (660401) and Trauma Center (713100)
• Fellowship RNs: ACLS, PALS, and NRP must be obtained within six (6) months when required by the department
• Psych Unit: CPI training required within 90 days and annually thereafter
• Professional certification preferred

Experience

• Less than one year of related experience required
• One (1) year of clinical experience preferred
