Equipment Technician

Summary The primary responsibility for the Equipment Technician position is collecting, analyzing, and reporting the health of rotating equipment. This includes vibration, thermography, oil analysis, pump and motor performance, compressor and engine performance, and key operating parameters. The role works closely with operations, engineers, specialists, and maintenance personnel to troubleshoot and perform repairs, and provides support for multiple sites. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Develop and maintain vibration analysis program, establishing routes and frequencies; collect and enter data for proper analysis. Perform analysis techniques for rotating and/or reciprocating equipment. Perform analysis techniques for motors and/or engines. Develop and maintain lube oil analysis program, establishing routes and frequencies. Acquire data monthly, quarterly, etc., including vibration data, critical machinery performance metrics (flow rates, speeds, temperatures, process flow), and lube oil samples. Analyze data to resolve or anticipate equipment failures. Lead or assist in root cause failure analysis using the TapRoot process. Implement continuous monitoring systems (alarms, reports, acceptance regions). Coordinate repair scheduling and follow‑up on notifications. Monitor equipment repairs in the field and at vendor shops. Report equipment deficiencies in SAP and recommend corrective actions. Collaborate with Maintenance/Reliability Specialists, engineers, planners, Operations Managers, and supervisors to prioritize deficiencies and foster continuous improvement. Support the lubrication program by monitoring effectiveness, taking samples, interpreting analysis, and taking corrective actions. Required Education High School Diploma or GED. Experience requirements vary by level: Level C: 0‑2 years in an oil and gas operations role or equivalent. Level B: 2‑4 years in an oil and gas operations role or equivalent. Level A: 4+ years in an oil and gas operations role or equivalent. Preferred Qualifications Solid troubleshooting skills and ability to interpret and analyze data. Strong computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office Suite. Working Conditions Frequent exposure to heat, cold, and adverse weather. Work in and around industrial and construction settings, potentially involving hazardous products, processes, materials, and chemicals, extreme temperatures, and loud machinery; requires appropriate personal protective equipment. Frequent heavy lifting with and without assistance. Work on and around equipment and facilities requiring safe work procedures and practices. Subject to call‑outs after hours, nights, weekends, and holidays to address operational issues and emergencies. Reliable attendance at work is required.
