Occupational Therapist / Physical Therapist Othello School District #147 – Othello, Washington Job Details Job ID: 5650982 Application Deadline: Posted until filled Posted: Apr 16, 2026 7:00 AM (UTC) Starting Date: Aug 28, 2026 Position Summary Occupational Therapists/Physical Therapists (OT/PTs) help students with mental, physical, developmental, or emotional disabilities improve their ability to perform tasks in daily routines and environments. They utilize treatments to restore function that has been impaired or lost, thereby enhancing the students' ability to perform tasks required for independent functioning. Essential Functions Screen and evaluate children referred for occupational therapy as part of a multidisciplinary team, assessing visual-perceptual skills, gross and fine motor skills, self‑care, sensory integration, and growth and development relevant to school and home. Establish and implement treatment programs to achieve goals and objectives derived from Individualized Education Programs. Explain the educational significance of occupational therapy treatments in supporting the student’s fullest potential and educational growth. Collaborate closely with special education teachers, speech therapists, physical therapists, parents, and educational assistants within a transdisciplinary teacher model. Maintain professional knowledge and expertise; attend, participate in, and implement district‑level program requirements of IDEA and Statewide Assessment requirements. Consult with classroom personnel, families, medical professionals, and staff and students in regular education programs to promote integration and cooperation. Maintain written records and submit reports for each student. Communicate program rationale and procedure to staff, community, and parents. Qualifications Washington State ESA Certification. Washington State Physical Therapy/Occupational Therapist license. Willingness to work with students of varying ability and demonstrate effective learning principles. Excellent classroom control and ability to motivate students. Ability to collaborate and promote positive relationships with staff, parents, support personnel, administrators, and community. Empathy and rapport with students who are disadvantaged. Willingness to work with all levels of special education students. Alignment of lesson plans and instruction with Washington State Essential Academic Learning Requirements. Support to classroom teachers by providing accommodations and instructional modifications aligned with IEPs. Student advocacy skills. Direct occupational therapy experience. Master’s or Doctorate in physical/occupational therapy. Preferred prior experience in OT in public school setting. Certificates and Licenses Valid Washington State ESA Certificate for Occupational Therapy or Physical Therapy. Certificate of Clinical Competence from ASHA desirable. Valid Washington State driver’s license and appropriate insurance required. Must maintain all certifications and licenses current at hire date. Continuing Education / Training Required to maintain effective knowledge and current proficiency in the position. Clearances Criminal Justice fingerprint/Background Clearance. FLSA Status Exempt. Physical Demands Physically able to occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. Physical ability to walk, stand, stoop, bend, crawl, lift, reach, pull, and climb as required to satisfactorily perform duties. Ability to focus and maintain clear vision at 20 inches or less and at 20 feet or more. Ability to work safely in varying hot and cold environments. Frequent standing, walking, lifting, and bending. Bargaining Unit Othello Education Association (OEA). Conditions of Employment Start: 2026‑2027 School Year (182 contracted days). Salary: $63,912‑$122,620 annual, based on education and experience per OEA CBA 2026‑2027. Retirement: Pension through Washington State Department of Retirement Systems.
