AIRCRAFT PNEUDRAULIC SYSTEMS MECHANIC.

The following details the duties, requirements and qualifications for the Air Force Reserve Technician (ART) position responsible for aircraft pneudraulic systems. Duties Conduct scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and periodic inspections on all pneudraulic systems on/off aircraft in accordance with established procedures. Troubleshoot hydraulic systems on both local and transient aircraft, diagnose malfunctions with portable test equipment, disassemble systems as needed, and make adjustments or repairs. Make initial technical order changes and follow-ups by bench tests, disassembling pneudraulic systems by removing covers, poppets, springs, cam seals, pistons, valves, and valve seats. Utilize safety practices and procedures, comply with security regulations, directives, and policies, use personal protective equipment, and comply with all appropriate safety and health directives. Control tools, ensure they are properly marked, calibrated (if necessary), and secured when area is unattended. Certify work produced under the USAF Technical Order Program and verify and certify work processes and procedures of certified coworkers and trainees. Requirements U.S. citizenship required. Males must be registered for Selective Service. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Shift work and emergency overtime may be required. Employee must maintain current certifications. Must be a current member of the Air Force Reserve or willing/qualified to join. Employee may be subject to PCS, relocation, and incentive allowances as specified by the agency. Qualifications The candidate will be evaluated using the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C for the WG-8200 FLUID SYSTEMS MAINTENANCE FAMILY. Applicants must demonstrate the requisite knowledge and skills for the duties, including the ability to perform the work of an Aircraft Pneudraulic Systems Mechanic with minimal supervision. Evaluation criteria include: Ability to follow oral and written instructions and interpret technical data. Knowledge of USAF Technical Order Program and procedures. Skill in using standard hand and power tools, materials accounting, and security. Proficiency in removing and installing aircraft pneudraulic systems and accessories. Comprehensive knowledge of the operation, capabilities, and limitations of aircraft pneudraulic systems. Ability to use test and measurement equipment, document in aircraft forms/MIS, and overhaul, repair, calibrate, or fabricate pneudraulic equipment. Knowledge of safety and security requirements per applicable standards, regulations, and technical orders. Physical Requirements Heavy lifting (45–79 pounds). Moderate lifting (15–44 pounds). Near vision correctable at 13–16 inches to Jaeger grade 1–4. Far vision in one eye to 20/20 and in the other to 20/40. Depth perception, color discrimination, and hearing without aid. Environmental Factors Outside and inside environments, including excessive heat, cold, humidity, and dampness. Dry atmospheric conditions and excessive noise. Dust, solvents, grease, oils, radiant energy, and electrical energy. Slippery or uneven walking surfaces, working around machinery with moving parts or objects, and operating ladders or scaffolding.
