e-FI Development Lead (FICC eTrading Technology)

What you’ll be doing The E‑FI Lead Java Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high‑performance electronic US Treasury/Rates trading systems. The role combines deep technical expertise in Java with a solid understanding of Fixed Income markets to deliver reliable, scalable, and low‑latency solutions that support the bank’s trading and risk management objectives. You will collaborate closely with traders, business analysts, and technology teams to deliver innovative solutions that enhance trading capabilities, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive business growth. Work arrangement is hybrid; details to be discussed at interview. Responsibilities Provide technical direction and mentorship to the development team. Oversee and be hands‑on for end‑to‑end delivery of robust, scalable, low‑latency eTrading solutions. Collaborate with traders, business analysts, product owners, and other technology teams to gather requirements and deliver fit‑for‑purpose solutions. Drive a culture of code excellence through code reviews, automated testing, and continuous integration. Identify and implement opportunities to improve system performance, reliability, and scalability. Ensure solutions comply with internal risk management policies, security standards, and regulatory requirements. Lead resolution of high‑impact production issues, perform root‑cause analysis, and implement long‑term fixes. Contribute to project planning, estimation, and resource allocation. Cross‑functional Relationships Trading Desk – collaborate closely with traders. Product Management – partner with product managers to prioritize features. Business Analysts – clarify requirements and translate business needs. Risk & Compliance – coordinate to ensure adherence to policies and regulations. Quality Assurance – develop and execute testing strategies. Infrastructure & DevOps – optimize deployment pipelines and automate processes. Support & Operations – manage incident resolution and monitor system health. Other Technology Teams – collaborate with groups such as data, security, client connectivity. Qualifications Strong proficiency in Java (core & advanced), including multi‑threading, collections, and concurrency. Experience developing, maintaining, or supporting electronic foreign exchange (E‑FI) trading platforms. Familiarity with FIX protocol, MQ, JMS, or similar messaging solutions. Experience with RESTful and/or SOAP web services. Understanding of low‑latency programming techniques. Proficiency with Spring Boot, Spring MVC, and related technologies. Strong SQL skills; experience with relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL) and/or NoSQL. Understanding of distributed computing concepts and technologies (microservices, caching, clustering). Experience with JUnit, Mockito, or similar testing tools. Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, TeamCity, Git. Solid knowledge of Fixed‑Income Markets (Rates products; trading lifecycle; market conventions). Knowledge of order routing, execution, and trade booking flows. Familiarity with pre‑trade and post‑trade risk controls in electronic trading. Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills. Ability to work in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment with changing priorities. Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams. Benefits The role offers an expected salary range of $200,000 – $290,000, based on experience, qualifications, and location. The successful candidate may be eligible for incentive compensation and a discretionary bonus.
