Posting Summary Rutgers University Correctional Healthcare seeks a Full‑Time Staff Nurse for Edna Mahan Correctional Facility in Clinton, NJ. The Staff Nurse utilizes the nursing process to meet diverse health care needs with ambulatory care as a primary focus, working in collaboration with health care professionals and security officers in a correctional environment. Key Responsibilities: Provides direct and indirect nursing care to meet physiological, psychosocial, and emotional needs of adult and geriatric inmate‑patients within the framework established by the correctional system. Utilizes effective communication skills, demonstrating respect, concern, and courtesy in all interpersonal relationships. Uses current knowledge to promote a safe environment for providing health care to inmate‑patients. Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing. Certifications/Licenses License to practice in the State of New Jersey. CPR certification required. Valid Driver’s License and own vehicle or alternative transportation between sites. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent. Minimum of one year experience in a correctional setting. Physical Demands and Work Environment Must be able to perform CPR for at least 10 minutes and lift up to 45 pounds. Ability to lift and rotate patients who are unable to ambulate (up to 50 pounds).
