Laboratory Associate (Contract - 6 Months)


Schedule: Sunday-Thursday, 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM

Pay: $20-25/hour


Position Summary


The Laboratory Associate is an entry-level role responsible for executing test methods in accordance with validated lab procedures and regulatory standards established by AATB, FDA, TGA, and USP. This position provides critical support to laboratory operations by assisting with the qualification, implementation, and maintenance of test methods while ensuring compliance with current laboratory and manufacturing practices.


Key Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory testing in accordance with laboratory operating systems, current Good Laboratory Practices (cGLPs), current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs), approved operating procedures (OPs), and work instructions (WIs).
• Ensure all testing is completed within established sample hold times.
• Maintain proficiency and certification for all assigned test methods.
• Enter data, generate labels, and track samples within the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
• Receive and reconcile samples while maintaining accurate chain-of-custody documentation according to lab procedures.
• Support Quality, Nonconformance, Quality Engineering (QNQE), and Engineering teams by providing documentation for validations and special projects.
• Monitor and maintain laboratory supply inventory to support daily testing activities.
• Perform monthly calibration of microliter pipettes and thermometers.
• Identify, investigate, and correct data entry and documentation errors.
• Maintain validation-related documentation and provide required records to Quality Assurance (QA) and Research & Development (R&D) teams.
• Conduct daily equipment checks on ovens, incubators, hoods, shakers, thermometers, and other laboratory equipment; document results in equipment logbooks.
• Perform microbiological, physical, analytical, and laboratory assay testing as assigned.
• Review testing data and sample throughput on a daily basis.
• Complete additional duties as assigned and trained.

Qualifications


Required Education

• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline.

Required Experience

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in an academic laboratory setting.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Valid driver's license.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
• Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
• Ability to read and interpret very small print and detailed laboratory documentation.
