Maintenance Engineer

Hyatt Place South Reno is looking for a hands on Maintenance Engineer who takes ownership of the physical condition of the hotel. This is a working role, not a supervisory one. You will spend your day moving between guest rooms, mechanical spaces, public areas, and the pool deck, fixing what needs fixing and staying ahead of what does not yet. The right person is a generalist who is comfortable troubleshooting across trades and who understands that a guest waiting on a repair is waiting on you.

What You Will Do

• Respond to guest room service calls promptly and resolve issues on the first visit whenever possible
• Perform preventive maintenance on guest rooms, PTAC and HVAC units, water heaters, boilers, and laundry equipment on a set rotation, documenting all work completed
• Handle general repairs across plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall, painting, tile, and appliance work
• Maintain the pool and spa including chemical testing, balancing, logging, and cleaning in accordance with Washoe County Health District requirements
• Inspect and maintain life safety systems, coordinate fire alarm and sprinkler inspections with vendors, and keep all logs current and audit ready
• Complete daily walk throughs of the building, grounds, parking areas, and mechanical rooms, correcting hazards immediately
• Support snow and ice removal, exterior upkeep, and seasonal readiness through the winter months
• Maintain the tool room, parts inventory, and MSDS documentation in an organized and compliant condition
• Escort and monitor contractors on property, verifying work quality before sign off
• Assist with guest room refresh projects, furniture moves, and banquet or meeting room setups as needed
• Participate in an on call rotation for after hours emergencies

What You Bring

• Two or more years of maintenance experience, ideally in a hotel, apartment, or commercial building environment
• Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and basic electrical systems, with the judgment to know when a job requires a licensed contractor
• EPA Section 608 Universal or Type I certification preferred
• Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification, or willingness to obtain within 90 days of hire at company expense
• Ability to read and follow schematics, equipment manuals, and PM checklists
• Comfort using a phone or tablet to receive, update, and close work orders
• Valid Nevada driver's license and clean driving record
• Strong guest service instincts and a professional presence in occupied guest rooms
• Flexible availability including weekends, holidays, and emergency call ins
• Own basic hand tools; specialty tools and equipment provided by the hotel

Physical Requirements

Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, climb ladders and stairs, kneel, crawl, and work in confined spaces. Work involves standing and walking for the majority of an eight hour shift and includes indoor and outdoor conditions in all seasons.
