First Assist
URMC Strong Memorial Hospital
Registered Nurse First Assistant – Operating Room
Schedule: 36 or 48 hours per week, Monday to Friday, day shifts with on-call responsibilities until 11 PM, no weekends or holidays.
Assignment Details: Contract Length: 13 weeks
Requirements:
- RN License (New York License only)
- CNOR Certification
- Completion of an accredited RN First Assistant course
- Two (2) years of experience in an operating room setting
- Proficient in perioperative nursing practice; scrubbing and circulating experience preferred
- Davinci Robotics experience required, including but not limited to:
- Robotic Urology
- Robotic GYN
- Robotic Colorectal
- Robotic Surgical Oncology
- Robotic Thoracic
- Robotic General Surgery
- BLS Certification (American Heart Association only) required
- ACLS Certification (American Heart Association only) preferred
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with the surgeon and healthcare team to ensure patient safety and optimal surgical outcomes.
- Practices perioperative nursing, utilizing acquired knowledge, skills, and judgment in the operating room.
- Assists in the operative phase of the perioperative experience as directed by the surgeon.
- Performs duties of an OR staff RN when not in the RNFA role.
- Maintains professional competence and engages in continuing education as required.
