Special Events Coordinator

Hiring Department St. Louis Public Radio Job Description St. Louis Public Radio (STLPR), a multimedia nonprofit journalism organization and NPR member station, seeks a creative, mission‑oriented professional to join our ranks as our next special events coordinator. As part of the fundraising team at STLPR, the special events coordinator supports the events director in planning and executing fundraising, cultivation and outreach events. The coordinator assists the director in working with staff across the organization, board members and other volunteers to arrange all aspects of a variety of events such as performances, broadcasts, receptions, fundraising events, galas, donor parties and other activities designed to raise funds, reach new audiences and deepen engagement and awareness. We’re looking for someone who enjoys working in a collaborative development department that moves STLPR’s journalism mission forward. The event team is part of a dynamic, motivated fundraising group that welcomes people with their own unique skills, perspectives and experiences. Key Responsibilities Assist the events director with the implementation, production, execution and post‑production of events and outreach activities to meet revenue goals. Support the development and execution of smaller, more frequent engagement opportunities that expand STLPR’s presence in the community and create additional entry points for audience connection. Serve as primary lead on the following: Specified events throughout the year Writing for event‑related marketing emails and promotional posts Managing events database Process and track event RSVP lists and attendee contact information. Assist with maintaining annual event plans, budgets and timelines, ensuring alignment with department and organization goals. Assist with tracking event‑related expenses and revenue and related documentation and reporting. Assist with creating and managing event records, invitation lists, reservations/ticketing, donor information and other database records, including preparing reports and providing analysis. Assist with the creative elements of events such as themes, decor, invitations, and promo materials. Manage on‑site production, clean up and post‑production for events. Generation Listen Assist Membership and Major Gifts teams with administration and coordination of Generation Listen, STLPR’s young friends group. Assist with GLC event planning and execution. Additional Responsibilities Social media content creation related to events Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned Requires work on specific weekends and evenings Supervision Received This position is supervised by the events director. Supervision Exercised This position frequently supervises volunteers and will supervise interns as needed. Shift 40 hours per week, including some off‑hours events. Minimum Qualifications A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary. Preferred Qualifications Experience managing special events or in development/fundraising or a related field Excellent written/ verbal communication, interpersonal, presentation, and/or customer service skills Ability to exercise good judgment and solve problems, and demonstrate initiative Organizational and time management skills; ability to pay attention to detail Experience working with volunteers or community programs Ability to work in spreadsheets and databases, organize and report information effectively Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Google Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and/or social media platforms Ability to become proficient in donor software and other industry‑related software Knowledge of public radio is a plus Anticipated Hiring Range $54,000 - $60,000 University Title SENIOR PROGRAM/PROJECT SUPPORT COORDINATOR Sponsorship Information Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.
