Human Resources Assistant

Groton, CT | Full Time | On-Site | Groton, CT | $22 an hour | Monday - Friday | 9:00 am - 4:00 pm About ECDC ECDC is a Connecticut Department of Developmental Services - licensed human services agency supporting adults with intellectual disabilities through residential homes, day program, school programs, customized employment, and senior supports. Our HR team keeps a multi-site, 24/7 workforce hired, trained, compliant, and supported, and we're looking for someone to help us do it well. The Role As our HR Assistant, you'll be the first point of contact for employees and applicants when they have day-to-day inquiries. This is a detail-heavy role in a regulated environment. Your work directly affects scheduling, payroll, and compliance and gives you real exposure to HR operations, labor relations, recruiting, and a look into the caregiving world. What You'll Do Post agency shift openings in ADP Workforce Now each month, verified against program schedules and released based on contract times and policies. Respond to employee questions regarding policies, PTO, timekeeping, benefits, and trainings. Including when to escalation. Maintain personnel, medical, and I-9 files accurately and confidentially, and support audit and licensing record requests. Build new employee folders, prepare onboarding packets, and support orientation logistics. Track expiring certifications, required trainings, and notify supervisors in advance. Schedule interviews, monitor job boards and applicant flow daily, and keep applicant records current. Keep HR bulletin boards and required labor law postings current at every program site (some local travel). What You Bring 1+ of HR experience OR 3+ years of related clerical or administrative work High school diploma or equivalent with 1+ years of HR experience OR a degree in a related field is required Proficiency in Microsoft Office; HRIS experience is preferred, ADP Workforce Now is preferred Strong accuracy, organization, and follow-through on reoccurring deadlines Sound judgment and absolute discretion with confidential information Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and an acceptable driving record Ability to pass a DDS-required background check and a federal/state criminal check Fluent in English and proficient with writing #J-18808-Ljbffr Eastern Community Development Corporation
