Supervisor, Lab - Core Lab MLS

Hourly Pay Range: $35.16 - $54.50. The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors. Position Highlights: Position: Supervisor, Lab – Core Lab MLS. Location: Evanston Hospital. Full Time. Hours: Monday–Friday, 7am–3:30pm, rotating weekends and holidays. Responsibilities Lead, mentor and supervise a team of Medical Technologists, Medical Laboratory Technicians, and support staff. Assign and coordinate work schedules, optimizing staffing levels for efficient operations. Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback, and facilitate professional development. Oversee a wide range of clinical laboratory tests, including hematology, chemistry, microbiology, immunology, and blood banking. Ensure strict adherence to laboratory procedures, protocols, and safety standards. Manage inventory levels, initiate supply orders, and oversee equipment maintenance. Develop, implement, and maintain quality control and quality assurance programs, aligning with regulatory and accreditation standards (e.g., CLIA, CAP, OSHA). Participate in proficiency testing, inspections, and audits, and take corrective actions as needed. Contribute to the creation and review of laboratory policies and procedures. Supervise the operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment and instrumentation. Troubleshoot technical issues, coordinate routine maintenance, and arrange for equipment repairs. Stay informed about advancements in laboratory technology and recommend updates as necessary. Review and validate test results to ensure accuracy and timely reporting. Collaborate closely with healthcare providers to interpret findings and communicate results effectively. Maintain detailed records of laboratory procedures and results. Provide training, orientation, and ongoing education to laboratory staff. Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional growth within the department. Support the team in staying current with best practices and industry developments. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred. Five years experience as a Medical Technologist, with demonstrated leadership experience required. Two years experience as a Senior MLS or Technical Specialist. Experience with new instrumentation, middleware, or lab information system implementation preferred. Personnel management experience preferred. Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MT/MLS), by a nationally recognized agency (e.g., ASCP) required. Additional certifications or specialized training in specific laboratory disciplines (e.g., microbiology, blood banking) preferred.
