This is a strategic actuarial leadership role focused on turning complex financial, pricing, and performance data into actionable business decisions.
You will guide actuarial strategy across pricing, forecasting, financial analysis, rate development, and performance monitoring.
The role combines technical actuarial expertise with senior-level business partnership, regulatory engagement, and cross-functional leadership.
You will lead and develop actuarial professionals while influencing major initiatives across the organization.
A key focus will be using advanced analytics and emerging AI capabilities to improve actuarial efficiency, insight generation, and decision-making.
You will operate in a highly collaborative environment, partnering with senior leaders, regulators, business teams, and external stakeholders.

Accountabilities:
- Lead the strategic direction of actuarial activities, including pricing, forecasting, month-end close, performance monitoring, financial experience analysis, and evaluation of key trend drivers.
- Develop and maintain actuarial processes, assumptions, accruals, and analytical approaches that support affordability, efficiency, financial performance, and business planning.
- Guide teams in developing and maintaining statistical and actuarial models for bid pricing, financial projections, contract modeling, and other strategic business initiatives.
- Provide senior-level actuarial expertise and business insight to support interactions with federal and state regulators, including the preparation and integrity of required rate filings.
- Partner with business development and senior leadership on new business opportunities, strategic projects, and complex analytical requests.
- Identify opportunities across functions where actuarial expertise can accelerate corporate objectives, improve processes, and strengthen business outcomes.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of actuaries while promoting adherence to applicable Actuarial Standards of Practice, professional development, and technical excellence.
- Monitor developments in the healthcare and actuarial landscape, including federal and state regulations, sub-regulatory guidance, industry trends, and emerging business practices.
- Establish tactical plans, functional goals, priorities, and decision-making frameworks while remaining accountable for solving complex problems within the actuarial function.
- Analyze and communicate financial drivers for assigned products and markets, including IBNR, accruals, budget variances, forecasts, and other key performance indicators.
- Lead audits and quality reviews of actuarial data, models, processes, and assumptions to ensure accuracy, integrity, and reliability.
- Support the design, development, and implementation of AI-enabled solutions across actuarial functions, including pricing, forecasting, financial analysis, and regulatory support.
- Evaluate emerging AI capabilities and help transition promising applications from experimentation into scalable, responsible, and effective actuarial workflows.
- Communicate complex actuarial concepts, analytical findings, business drivers, and recommendations clearly to senior management and external stakeholders.
- Perform other related responsibilities as required to support organizational and departmental objectives.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
- Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) designation required; Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) designation preferred.
- Approximately 8 years of experience in actuarial work, decision support, financial analysis, or a closely related discipline preferred.
- At least 3 years of management or people-leadership experience preferred.
- Experience in managed care, healthcare, health insurance, or a related industry is strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of actuarial methodologies, financial analysis, pricing, forecasting, modeling, and performance measurement.
- Advanced proficiency with data and analytical tools such as SQL, SAS, R, Access, or comparable data-manipulation technologies; strong Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead audits of data and actuarial models and ensure analytical integrity.
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and the ability to translate changing federal and state guidance into actionable business strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to manage, develop, motivate, and mentor actuarial professionals and foster a high-performing team environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex actuarial concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong listening, critical-thinking, problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to influence stakeholders across organizational levels and build effective relationships with senior leaders and external partners.
- Strong business judgment, attention to detail, and ability to identify problems, develop solutions, lead processes, and communicate outcomes effectively.
- Experience evaluating or applying AI-enabled tools to improve actuarial productivity, operational efficiency, insight generation, and business decision-making.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional environment.
- Willingness to travel occasionally, up to approximately 15%.
