Back-End Engineer

Our client, a growing venture-backed Healthcare startup, is hiring a Backend Engineer to join their team in New York. The successful candidate will play a critical role in designing and building the systems that empower healthcare organizations to deliver meaningful health insights while helping strengthen their services to patients.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and cloud infrastructure.
• Build and deliver features end-to-end across the platform.
• Architect secure, reliable and resilient systems for healthcare-focused applications.
• Improve performance, scalability and system reliability to ensure seamless user experiences.
• Develop and enhance observability, monitoring and operational tooling.
• Work closely with product and engineering teams to solve complex technical problems.
• Contribute to technical strategy, system architecture and engineering best practices.
• Help shape the evolution of a platform focused on preventive health and human optimization.

Skillset

• At least 5 years of experience building backend systems using modern programming languages such as TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, Rust or Go.
• Proven experience designing and operating scalable, distributed systems.
• Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure and contemporary backend architecture patterns.
• Product-minded, with a focus on solving problems and delivering meaningful user value.
• High attention to detail across system design, architecture and implementation quality.
• Passion for building robust, secure and maintainable software systems.
• Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services and infrastructure.
• Strong expertise in PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and tooling is a plus.
• Interest in healthcare technology, preventive medicine or personal health optimization.
