In addition, specific functions may change from time to time:Participates in assessment of patientCollaborates with departmental and interdisciplinary groups in developing the patient plan of careFollows patient's plan of care while participating in the direct nursing care to assigned patientsAdjusts care based upon age-specific physiological needs of patients as directed by the Registered Nurse or other authorized person(s)Maintains an accurate and relevant record of patient careAdministers medication as ordered by physicianFacilitates a safe environmentRecognizes life-threatening situations and responds appropriatelyMaintains required competenciesParticipates in Performance Improvement activities and monitors the quality of careEstablishes collaborative interpersonal relationships with other Health System staffSupports patients in the practice of their cultural and spiritual beliefs within limits of the medical regimenActively participates in cost containment and completes accurate charging for patient servicesActively demonstrates responsibility concerning customer satisfaction, patient throughput and hospital functional capacity through compliance with the Hospital Innovation Project (HIP), if applicableOther duties as assignedMinimum QualificationsThe following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:Education and Formal Training :High school graduate or equivalent requiredCurrent licensure in North Carolina as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Compact state licensureWork Experience :NoneKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required :Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English languageDemonstrates positive interpersonal skillsVerbal and written skills requiredHas knowledge of the age-specific physiological and psychosocial needs of the patients typically servedPhysical Requirements :Speech and auditory acuity for communication of patient needsVisual acuity for observation of patientsLong periods of standing, walking, bending, and liftingMay involve skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious materialMust be able to lift 35 poundsRequired Licenses and CertificationsBLS - American Heart Association, RN - Board Of NursingCape Fear Valley Health System is an Equal Opportunity Employer M/F/Disability/Veteran/Sexual Orientation/Gender Identity
