Job DescriptionThe Licensed Practical Nurse performs selected nursing acts in the care of the ill, injured, or infirm patient under the direction of a registered nurse. Under the direction of the registered nurse, provides nursing care in accordance with departmental and hospital policies and procedures.ResponsibilitiesUnder the direction and supervision of the RN assesses and diagnoses patient and family needs to provide quality care to assigned patients.Demonstrates the skills and judgment necessary to implement medical plan of care, nursing interventions, and procedures as necessary for the care of the patient.Maintains up to date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to ensure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team, to ensure quality care.Operates order communication system.Uses computer to enter orders.Accurately transcribes physician orders according to hospital policy and procedures.Follows the process for patient transfer and/or discharge.Ensures the necessary supplies and services are ordered and obtained for the unit.Maintains current knowledge/certification/licensure.QualificationsMinimum EducationTechnical Diploma/Certificate Practical Nursing RequiredLicenses and CertificationsLicensed Practical Nurse State of Florida or eligible compact state Upon Hire RequiredBLS for Healthcare Providers (BLS) American Heart Association Upon Hire RequiredRequired Skills, Knowledge and AbilitiesDemonstrated proficiency in acute care nursing, knowledge, and skills.Must have superior multi-tasking and prioritizing skills, as well as organizational skills.About UsBaptist Health Care is a not-for-profit health care system committed to improving the quality of life for people and communities in northwest Florida and south Alabama.
