This role includes packing and labeling using SAP, operating molding presses and secondary equipment as needed, maintaining a clean and safe work area, and supporting quality control through sorting and rework of nonconforming product. The position requires close attention to detail, strong teamwork, and the ability to work efficiently on a modern, automated production line during night shift hours.

Responsibilities

  • Perform frequent in‑process visual inspections of molded plastic parts to identify defects such as discoloration, shorts, burns, contamination, sinks, splay, delamination, and other nonconformities.
  • Accurately record all required production, quality, and performance data as directed by management.
  • Pack finished products by transferring parts from catch bins or boxes into shipping containers, ensuring proper weight, count, and product protection.
  • Use SAP to correctly complete, print, and affix labels to containers, ensuring accurate identification and traceability of product.
  • Transport packed product to the designated shipping area and stack finished goods correctly and safely on pallets.
  • Prepare and supply new or used boxes and other packing materials to molding presses to support continuous production.
  • Maintain a clean, organized production and packing area by sweeping floors, picking up stray molded parts, and removing dust, dirt, grease, or oil from molding presses.
  • Promptly clean up oil or water spills and leaks to support a safe working environment.
  • Operate manually operated molding presses as required, including removing molded product and runners from the mold and packing product into bags, boxes, or trays.
  • Correctly place inserts into molds and perform secondary operations such as reaming, trimming, facing, and hot stamping as needed.
  • Sort and rework product that does not conform to customer requirements, including sampling and gauging reject product when required.
  • Properly document and label nonconforming product to clearly identify its status and disposition.
  • Support and, when required, train Inspector Packer I employees in proper inspection, packing, safety, and housekeeping procedures.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues in all departments to support smooth production flow and teamwork.
  • Complete all required training assignments on time and apply learned procedures in daily work.
  • Perform all job functions in a safe manner, consistently using appropriate safety equipment and following established safety procedures.
  • Comply with all applicable state and federal safety and environmental regulations and company policies.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned to support production, quality, and operational goals.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in production, manufacturing, or assembly environments, preferably involving plastics or automated lines.
  • Hands-on experience with packaging, packing, and material handling in a high‑volume environment.
  • Inspection, quality control inspection, quality checks, or quality assurance.
  • Ability to manually inspect completed plastic parts and accurately identify visual defects.
  • Average or better math skills for counting, weighing, and basic measurements.
  • Ability to spend long hours walking and standing throughout the shift.
  • Good color perception to distinguish product colors and detect discoloration or other visual defects.
  • Good manual dexterity for handling small parts, performing secondary operations, and packing efficiently.
  • Ability to safely lift up to 35 lbs on a regular basis.
  • Ability to work well with others at all levels and contribute to a cooperative team environment.
  • Ability to work in an orderly, logical manner while paying close attention to detail in all responsibilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a good command of the English language.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and operate in a safe, organized manner on the plant floor.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience using SAP or similar enterprise systems for labeling, inventory, or production data entry.
  • Proficiency with personal computers and Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience using email for communication and reporting within a production environment.
  • Experience with inventory handling, general labor, production line work, and assembly operations.
  • Experience operating molding presses and performing secondary operations such as reaming, trimming, facing, and hot stamping.
  • Prior experience sorting and reworking nonconforming product and documenting quality status.
  • Ability and willingness to train and mentor less experienced team members when needed.
