Production Supervisor - 2nd Shift

Production SupervisorThe Production Supervisor directs, supervises, and coordinates machining, welding, painting, finishing, and/or assembly operations. This position requires broad knowledge of machining and welding technology, assembly procedures, and journeyman-level trade skills.The supervisor leads team members involved in manufacturing the company's products and is responsible for quality, production volume, manufacturing costs, production schedules, efficient workflow, and on-time shipments. The position may oversee machining, welding, assembly, painting, press operations, radial drills, and small drills.ResponsibilitiesWork under the direction of the General Manager or Manufacturing Manager.Ensure employees perform their jobs safely and use the appropriate personal protective equipment.Conduct monthly work-center inspections, participate in safety meetings, and investigate accidents or incidents.Supervise employees involved in machining, welding, finishing, painting, and/or assembly operations.Direct complex, multi-tool setups and machine operations involving custom parts, critical dimensions, intricate contours, close tolerances, and specific finish requirements.Maintain production quality and quantity while controlling manufacturing costs and meeting production schedules.Organize and assign work based on employee skills, knowledge, experience, available labor hours, machinery, and tooling.Diagnose machining, tooling, and equipment problems to reduce downtime and prevent production delays.Coordinate equipment repair and maintenance activities with the Maintenance department.Provide employees with instructions and guidance while monitoring setup procedures, machining operations, finishing work, and assembly processes.Coordinate inspection and quality-control activities with the Quality Assurance department.Complete corrective-action requests when quality or production issues need to be addressed.Partner with Engineering, Production, Scheduling, Purchasing, and other departments to support:Process improvementsCost-reduction effortsNew tooling and manufacturing methodsLabor planning and schedulingEquipment repair and maintenanceParticipate in Lean/OPEX activities and ensure the team follows Lean/OPEX manufacturing principles.Evaluate employee performance, including the retention of probationary employees and employee reclassification.Make recommendations regarding wage increases.Ensure employees follow company policies regarding conduct, time usage, work assignments, and clocking in and out of jobs.Address performance issues through training, discipline, demotion, or other appropriate corrective action.Document incidents and performance concerns to support corrective actions.Expedite urgent orders and redirect employees and resources to meet shipment deadlines.Coordinate workflow and order sequencing with Production Control and dispatchers.Coordinate with outside vendors regarding outsourced work and quality concerns.Interview external candidates, conduct job visits, and make hiring recommendations.Coordinate with Purchasing to requisition tools and supplies.Attend company-sponsored training, technical and administrative courses, trade shows, and exhibits to remain informed about developments relevant to the position.RequirementsAt least 5 years of manufacturing experience.Three to five years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.Broad knowledge of machining and welding technology, assembly procedures, and journeyman-level trade applications.High school diploma or GED required.Associate of Applied Science in Manufacturing Technology or a related field preferred.Additional InformationRegular exposure to shop conditions that vary depending on the assigned task and are generally dirty.Exposure to shop noise.Extensive standing and walking.Potential exposure to fumes, vapors, and solutions that may dry or irritate the skin and eyes. These substances are controlled according to OSHA standards.Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, although it is normally performed indoors.Some work may occur in dusty or confined shop or laboratory areas.We are located at 2511 W Main St, Jacksonville, AR 72076.This job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed.
