JOB SUMMARY:

The RN provides safe nursing care in a timely manner to patients on the assigned unit with a high degree of independence. Performs within the scope of a RN as defined by the Vermont State Board of Nursing, functions regularly as charge nurse.

PRE-REQUISITES:

Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or enrolled in an accredited Direct Entry to Master of Science in Nursing Program with current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Vermont (VT RN license or Compact State RN) Experience: Perioperative and critical care experience preferred. If no prior critical care experience, critical care course must be completed during orientation. Certifications Required: ACLS and PALS required if trained to phase 1 (PACU). BLS required for all Ambulatory RNs. IV certification required.

Reports To: Director Surgical Services Other Contacts: Charge nurse, providers and their staff, shift administrator, patients and their families/visitors, hospital staff, public, and other health care/community agencies
