Surgical Technologist

Overview Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital offers highly specialized surgical and medical services in an intimate environment and is known for outstanding patient care. The facility features 64 private patient rooms, 14 operating rooms and four intensive care unit rooms, and is designed to provide a comforting environment that is innovative, efficient and centered on the patient experience. Role Position: Surgical Technologist Responsibilities Prepares operating room for surgical patient, reviews preference cards to determine surgeon needs, obtains the necessary supplies and equipment for the procedure, ensures cleanliness of the room, and assists with opening sterile supplies. Performs surgical scrub duties, and assists with the collection, identification, and disposition of cultures and specimens. Assists in turnover of the room, and ensures supplies, instruments, and equipment are returned to proper location.
