Tribal Home Visitor

Responsibilities Support recruitment, enrollment, and engagement of caregivers and children Coordinate and implement community-based family activities and programming Promote program availability and connections within the community Identify and connect families with internal and external resources Conduct and coordinate individualized home visits from pregnancy through age five Support families during pregnancy and postpartum periods, including preparation for birthing and breastfeeding Assist families in obtaining recommended medical care, including transportation and appointment advocacy Support child development and caregiver parenting knowledge and skills Advocate and navigate early childhood intervention systems Prepare families for school transition, including advocacy, care coordination, and attending IEP meetings Maintain required certifications, including curriculum model and developmental screening certifications Participate in Advisory Councils and Quality Improvement Initiatives Support regulatory compliance, mandatory reporting, documentation, evaluation, and reporting Protect confidential information and complete other organizational duties as needed Requirements Degree in a related field and/or relevant work/life experience Experience working in Tribal Communities and knowledge of resources available to Wabanaki people Experience providing direct support, education, and outreach Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a culturally diverse setting Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Teams Clear and precise written and oral communication skills Interest or experience in maternal health, childhood development, early learning, integrated family supports, child abuse and neglect prevention, and/or substance use prevention and intervention Ability to provide nonjudgmental supportive services and resources Understanding of social/emotional development or willingness to learn Ability and willingness to attend required trainings and maintain certifications Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills Flexibility, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks Ability to exert moderate physical effort, including lifting or carrying children or materials weighing up to 25 pounds Willingness to travel and access to reliable transportation Valid Maine Driver's License Must be insurable on the organization’s auto insurance plan Must pass a criminal background check Core Competencies Demonstrates expertise in supporting families through pregnancy and early childhood, including advocacy, resource connection, and child development knowledge. Proficient in community engagement and compliance with regulatory standards while maintaining confidentiality.
