Field Operations DirectorThe Field Operations Director is a critical executive leadership role responsible for the safe, profitable, and high-quality execution of all field operations across assigned markets and projects. Reporting to the Vice President & General Manager, this leader will oversee General Superintendents, Superintendents, and field teams while driving operational excellence across safety, workforce planning, production, financial performance, and compliance. This role is ideal for a seasoned construction executive who thrives in complex, multi-state environments and is passionate about building scalable systems, developing high-performing teams, and delivering best-in-class project outcomes. The position will be based in either Sacramento or San Diego.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide strategic oversight of construction and field operations across renewables, utilities, and pipeline projectsEnsure all projects are delivered in alignment with design, specifications, budget, and scheduleLead workforce planning, forecasting, and compliance across union and multi-state environmentsDrive a zero-incident safety culture in partnership with safety leadershipOptimize equipment utilization, capital planning, and supply chain logisticsDevelop and mentor field leadership, building a strong succession pipelineStrengthen relationships with clients, agencies, contractors, and industry partnersCollaborate cross-functionally to align operational priorities with business growth objectivesChampion continuous improvement, process optimization, and change management initiativesRequirementsEducation & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)10+ years of progressive experience in construction, utilities, or energy sectors10+ years in senior leadership roles with strategic oversight responsibilitiesProven experience scaling operations across multiple regions or statesCore CompetenciesExecutive presence with strong influence and leadership credibilityDeep expertise in union environments and workforce managementStrong knowledge of utility, renewable energy, and regulatory frameworksAbility to manage multiple complex projects simultaneouslyExperience with process improvement and organizational change initiativesHigh-level financial and operational acumenBenefitsBase Salary: $225,000 – $290,000 (commensurate with experience and location)Comprehensive benefits package including health, retirement, and paid time offExecutive-level visibility and impact within a growing organizationOpportunity to shape operational strategy across a rapidly expanding renewables portfolioLeadership role within a company committed to safety, innovation, and long-term growth
