Job Title: General Laborer and Light Equipment Operator Job Description

This short-term project role supports the safe boxing, palletizing, and movement of solar panels on a completed solar farm site. General laborers will focus on handling and preparing solar panels for recycling, while light equipment operators will use forklifts and skid steers to transport materials across the site. The position offers steady weekday hours in a construction-style environment and the opportunity to contribute to sustainable energy operations.

• Box and palletize solar panels in preparation for recycling, following established procedures and safety guidelines.
• Handle solar panels and related materials carefully to prevent damage and ensure efficient workflow.
• Perform general labor tasks on a solar farm site, including lifting, moving, and organizing materials as directed.
• Support construction-style activities related to solar panel handling and site organization.
• For light equipment operators: operate an 8K forklift to safely load, unload, and transport solar panels and pallets.
• For light equipment operators: operate a skid steer to move panels and materials around the site in a controlled and efficient manner.
• Inspect equipment before use and report any safety concerns or mechanical issues promptly.
• Follow all site safety protocols, including proper use of PPE and adherence to instructions from site supervisors.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and contribute to a safe and efficient work environment.
• Work collaboratively with team members to meet daily production goals within standard work hours.

• At least 1 year of experience working on solar projects or in solar-related labor for general laborer positions.
• At least 3 years of experience operating forklifts and skid steers for light equipment operator positions.
• Proven ability to perform physically demanding labor, including lifting, carrying, and moving materials on a construction-style site.
• Experience working with solar panels or in solar construction environments.
• Mechanical aptitude and comfort working around construction equipment and tools.
• Demonstrated ability to follow safety procedures and use personal protective equipment appropriately.
• Reliability in maintaining a consistent 40-hour workweek, Monday through Friday, on a short-term project.

• Background in general labor, construction, or similar hands-on work environments.
• Experience working on solar farms or renewable energy sites.
• Familiarity with basic mechanical concepts related to material handling and equipment operation.
• Ability to work effectively outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills to coordinate tasks with other crew members.
• Attention to detail when handling solar panels to ensure proper packaging and palletizing.

The role is based on a completed solar farm site, offering a field-based, construction-style work setting. Team members work 40-hour weeks, Monday through Friday, over approximately three weeks, during standard daytime hours. The environment involves outdoor work in all weather conditions, with regular exposure to solar panels, material handling tasks, and light construction activities. Light equipment operators use an 8K forklift and skid steer to move panels and pallets across the site. Appropriate work clothing is required, along with full personal protective equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, and other gear as needed. The site emphasizes safety, clear procedures, and coordinated teamwork to complete the project efficiently.

This is a Contract position based out of Waverly, VA.

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $27.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
