The Host Serving and Access Team is building the best realtime and offline data and pricing architectures possible, pushing the boundary on what we can provide to our internal partners and Airbnb’s Hosts. You can help solve the problems, resolve the complexities, and empower the products that millions of people rely on every day.

We are looking for someone to help us craft the next generation of services and APIs that connect Host data to the rest of the company and world. Our team shares and safeguards Hosts’ metadata, pricing suggestions, calendar syncing, and other critical services that empower Hosts to accomplish their goals, whether those goals revolve around maximizing their income or opening their home to more people.

The Difference You Will Make

As a Staff Engineer on the Guidance Serving team, you will drive the technical strategy and delivery of advanced online and offline serving systems, enabling seamless and reliable ML model predictions, and personalized user experiences. You’ll collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Design, Data Science, and ML Engineering to architect scalable solutions with clear domain boundaries, advance data pipelines, and continuously enhance the performance, efficiency, and impact of our end-to-end architecture.

A Typical Day

• Architect and drive the technical strategy and architecture for our serving ecosystem, ensuring our APIs, services, and data pipelines not only work well now, but are evolving with the business’ needs
• Lead the development and optimization of real-time serving systems to deliver low-latency, high-throughput APIs for model predictions and personalized recommendations, ensuring reliable and scalable performance in production environments.
• Collaborate with other product engineers and cross-functional partners to develop new Host pricing functionality and surface model recommendations, insights and analytics
• Contribute to the development of long-term workflow strategies, roadmaps and ML serving development within the Host Pricing organization.
• Champion engineering excellence by establishing architectural standards and mentoring senior engineers to elevate the organization's technical maturity

Your Expertise

• 9+ years of engineering experience with a BS/MS or PhD in CS or similar
• Proven track record of leading teams, setting technical strategy, and launching high-impact models.
• Expertise with backend systems in large-scale service-oriented architectures.
• Experience influencing cross-functional partners and engineering teams.
• Good judgment in making tradeoffs to balance short-term business needs with long-term technical quality.
• Excellent communication and cross-team collaboration skills.
• Strong problem-solving and production debugging abilities.

Your Location:

This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager. Our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.

$212,000—$265,000 USD
