Kinston Health is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Women's Health Provider to join our mission-driven team. The ideal candidate is passionate about improving the health of women across every stage of life and committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.

The Women's Health Provider delivers comprehensive, evidence-based reproductive, gynecologic, prenatal, postpartum, and preventive healthcare services to adolescent and adult patients. The provider manages routine and complex women's health conditions, provides prenatal and postpartum care within the provider's scope of practice, performs office-based procedures consistent with credentialing, and collaborates with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care.
The Women's Health Provider collaborates closely with physicians, nursing staff, behavioral health, care management, and other interdisciplinary team members to provide compassionate, patient-centered care that supports Kinston Health's mission of improving the health of our communities through accessible, high-quality healthcare.
Qualifications
Education:
- Master's or Doctoral degree from an accredited Women's Health Nurse Practitioner program; OR
- Master's or Doctoral degree from an accredited Family Nurse Practitioner program with documented women's health/OB-GYN experience; OR
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program with women's health or OB-GYN experience.
Certifications & Licenses:
- Current unrestricted North Carolina APRN or PA license (or ability to obtain prior to employment).
- National certification as one of the following preferred:
- Women's Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP-BC)
- Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-BC or FNP-C)
- Physician Assistant (PA-C)
- Current DEA registration or ability to obtain.
- Current North Carolina Controlled Substance Registration (if applicable).
- Current BLS certification.
- Maintain credentialing, privileging, and continuing education requirements.
Experience:
- Two or more years of women's health, OB-GYN, reproductive health, family practice, or FQHC experience preferred
- Experience performing office gynecologic procedures.
- Experience with Electronic Health Records.
- Experience caring for medically underserved populations preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Comprehensive knowledge of women's preventive healthcare.
- Knowledge of current ACOG and USPSTF clinical guidelines.
- Ability to evaluate and manage gynecologic conditions across the lifespan.
- Strong patient assessment and clinical decision-making skills.
- Ability to perform office-based gynecologic procedures consistent with credentialing.
- Knowledge of contraceptive counseling and family planning.
- Knowledge of sexually transmitted infection evaluation and treatment.
- Strong documentation and EHR proficiency.
- Excellent patient education and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary healthcare team.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive women's health services, including preventive, reproductive, gynecologic, prenatal, and postpartum care for adolescent and adult patients within the provider's scope of practice.
- Perform comprehensive health histories, physical examinations, annual well-woman examinations, breast examinations, pelvic examinations, cervical cancer screenings, Pap smears, and HPV testing in accordance with current clinical guidelines.
- Diagnose, evaluate, and manage acute and chronic gynecologic conditions, including abnormal uterine bleeding, pelvic pain, vaginal infections, sexually transmitted infections, urinary symptoms, menopause, and other women's health concerns.
- Provide preconception counseling, reproductive planning, fertility awareness education, and family planning services.
- Confirm pregnancy through clinical evaluation and diagnostic testing.
- Provide comprehensive prenatal care for low-risk pregnancies, including routine prenatal visits, maternal and fetal assessments, patient education, and coordination of care in accordance with organizational protocols.
- Monitor maternal and fetal well-being throughout pregnancy by ordering, interpreting, and communicating appropriate laboratory and diagnostic studies.
- Identify high-risk pregnancies and coordinate consultation, referral, or transfer of care to an obstetrician, maternal-fetal medicine specialist, or other appropriate provider as clinically indicated.
- Provide comprehensive postpartum care, including assessment of maternal recovery, breastfeeding support, postpartum depression screening, contraception counseling, and management of chronic health conditions.
- Educate patients regarding nutrition, weight gain, exercise, immunizations, medication safety, healthy pregnancy practices, and postpartum recovery.
- Evaluate and manage common pregnancy-related conditions within the provider's scope of practice, including nausea and vomiting, urinary tract infections, gestational diabetes screening, hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, and anemia.
- Provide contraceptive counseling and prescribe or administer appropriate contraceptive methods.
- Perform office-based procedures consistent with education, clinical privileges, and organizational credentialing, including insertion and removal of long-acting reversible contraceptives (IUDs and contraceptive implants), colposcopy, endometrial biopsy, vulvar biopsy, incision and drainage of Bartholin cysts, and other approved gynecologic procedures.
- Order, interpret, and communicate laboratory, pathology, and diagnostic test results, and prescribe medications consistent with licensure, credentialing, and organizational protocols.
- Coordinate patient care with physicians, specialists, behavioral health providers, case management, hospital providers, and community resources to ensure continuity of care and address social determinants of health.
- Complete accurate, timely, and thorough documentation within the electronic health record (EHR) in accordance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
- Respond promptly to patient messages, medication refill requests, laboratory results, and other clinical communications.
- Meet established productivity, quality, patient satisfaction, and documentation standards.
- Participate in interdisciplinary care team meetings, provider meetings, quality improvement initiatives, population health activities, and committee assignments as requested.
- Maintain all required licensure, certifications, credentialing, privileging, and continuing education requirements.
- Comply with all applicable HIPAA, OSHA, HRSA, FTCA, CMS, and organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Environment & Schedule
- Must be able and comfortable working in a variety of settings including, but not limited to clinical environments and office spaces.
- Must be able to work nights and weekends as departmental needs arise.
