Material Handler / Sit-Down Forklift Operator

Pay: $18.00/hour

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Sit-Down Forklift Operator to join our team as a Material Handler. This position is primarily responsible for operating a sit-down forklift to safely move, load, unload, stage, and store materials throughout the facility. The ideal candidate will have forklift experience, strong attention to safety, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced warehouse environment.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a sit-down forklift throughout the shift
• Load and unload inbound and outbound trucks
• Transport materials, finished products, and pallets to designated locations
• Stage materials according to production schedules
• Move Work-in-Process (WIP) materials between production areas and storage racks
• Perform daily forklift inspections and complete required safety documentation
• Use handheld scanners and electronic devices to track inventory and material locations
• Store and retrieve pallets accurately within warehouse racking systems
• Assist with inventory counts and maintain accurate inventory records
• Maintain clean, organized work areas following 5S standards
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures
• Support continuous improvement initiatives
• Perform other warehouse duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Previous sit-down forklift experience required
• Forklift certification preferred or ability to obtain certification
• Experience in warehouse, shipping, receiving, or material handling environments
• Ability to read and follow written instructions
• Basic computer and inventory tracking skills
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic

This is a Contract position based out of Newport News, VA.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
