MATE - OYSTER 885 - Caribbean/US - Oyster World Rally

Yacht Crew Position

STARTING JUNE: An experienced and personable crew team is sought for a one-year-old Oyster 885 operating primarily in the US East Coast and Caribbean from June 2026 onward. The yacht is currently run with four crew and is under new ownership. Couples and individuals will be considered. If a couple team, the Captain/Engineer could be partnered with a Mate, Stew or Chef. Program Overview Summer / early fall cruising in New England Winter season based in the British Virgin Islands Return to New England for Summer 2027 Preparation for participation in the Oyster World Rally 2028 Vessel may undertake occasional charter activity, though primarily private use Cayman Islands flag Ownership & Style The owners are family sailors with a genuine enthusiasm for being involved onboard. They have a background sailing family yachts around the Boston /Bermuda areas, currently sail their own 28ft yacht, and have completed Caribbean bareboat charters. This is a relaxed, family-oriented program rather than a formal superyacht environment. While the owners expect excellent maintenance and professional standards in the upkeep and operation of the yacht, they specifically do not seek overly formal "silver service" hospitality. Crew should be: Warm, approachable, and adaptable Comfortable working in a family-focused environment Happy encouraging owner and guest involvement onboard Low ego and team-oriented Professional without being overly rigid or formal Chef / Interior Expectations The family enjoys cooking and participating in the galley experience, so the ideal chef will be collaborative rather than overly protective of the kitchen. A flexible and personable approach is highly valued. Candidate Profile Suitable candidates will have: Strong sailing yacht experience, ideally on performance cruising yachts Experience with owner-operated or family-style programs Capability for both coastal and offshore cruising A positive, easy-going attitude and strong interpersonal skills Interest in a long-term cruising and rally program The owners have no preference regarding gender, tattoos, or traditional yachting formality, prioritising personality fit and professionalism above all else. Requirements Captain / Engineer Minimum YM Ocean certification Strong sailing background essential (could be stepping up from first Mate on larger sailing vessels) Hands-on approach to engineering and maintenance Confident leader with excellent communication skills Comfortable operating in a family-oriented environment Mate option: Minimum YM Offshore CE certification Strong sailing background and experience on similar sized vessels or larger. Engineering skills a big advantage Gret teamplayer Chef option : Level 2 Food Hygiene certification Previous restaurant and/or yacht charter experience Ability to produce fresh, healthy, family-style meals with creativity Deck/Stew option: Strong service and housekeeping skills Strong sailor (preferable) - happy to stand watches All: STCW ENG1
