Position Details Title: Licensed Practical Nurse – Part Time, Days – UCHC BSP Department: UCHC Bayside State Prison Location: Bayside State Prison, Leesburg, NJ Overview University Correctional Health Care (UCHC), part of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is dedicated to providing physical, mental health, dental, and sex offender treatment services to individuals in the criminal justice system in New Jersey. Posting Summary The Licensed Practical Nurse will, under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse, provide technical nursing care to assigned patients, perform treatments and procedures within established guidelines, and create a safe, therapeutic environment. Responsibilities Initiate the admission process and assist with identifying recurrent health problems, symptoms, and behavioral changes of residents. Collect pertinent data through observation, interview, and teamwork and communicate changes in resident condition to other caregivers. Maintain the clinical area in a clean, neat, safe manner and participate in required counts and cleaning assignments. Adhere to institutional and medical-unit infection control policies. Maintain current professional skills and pursue professional growth to enhance correctional nursing practice and the organization’s image. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Valid registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of New Jersey. CPR certification. Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation to and from the placement site. Preferred Qualifications At least six (6) months of experience in an acute hospital setting. Physical Demands First responders must have the physical capacity to perform CPR for at least 10 minutes and be able to lift and rotate patients who are unable to ambulate, up to 50 pounds. Special Conditions Requires approval by the Department of Corrections (DOC) and adherence to all DOC requirements. Work Arrangement Full onsite; 20 hours per week on day shift. Union Representation Teamsters Local 97. Classification FLSA: Nonexempt. Grade: 215. Compensation Salary range: Minimum $32,520.00 – Mid Range $33,020.00 – Maximum $34,010.00.
