Located steps from Bryant Park in the heart of New York City, HARTA, BAR HARTA, and BAR CIMA are immersive escapes within The Grayson Hotel that come together to create an approachable and elegant atmosphere offering both indoor and outdoor experiences. Our menus feature dishes prepared with locally sourced ingredients and flavors spanning the Western Mediterranean and beyond.

Bar HARTA, a second-floor, al fresco wine terrace was inspired by the convivial wine culture of the Western Mediterranean - Spain, France, Italy - with over a dozen wines on tap and a menu of sparkling cocktails for easy, spring and summer sipping!

On the rooftop, BAR CIMA welcomes guests into an intimate lounge with elevated cocktail service and breathtaking views of New York City's Empire State Building.

Summary: The Host plays a pivotal role in creating a positive and welcoming experience for our guests. The Host is the first point of contact for guests, ensuring they feel valued from the moment they walk through the door. The Host will manage reservations, oversee the seating process, and contribute to the overall efficiency and success of the restaurant. Hosts are eligible to participate in tip pools and IRD gratuities. AM Host: 7:00 AM shift start time PM Host: 3:00 PM shift start time CIMA Host: 4:00 PM shift start time

Responsibilities:

• Create a positive and inviting atmosphere by warmly welcoming guests as they enter/exit the restaurant.
• Receive and manage incoming reservations effectively, especially during peak hours.
• Record reservation details accurately in the system and assist in managing guest databases and contact information.
• Organize and prioritize seating arrangements based on reservations and walk-ins.
• Optimize table turnover to ensure efficient use of dining space.
• Provide accurate wait times for guests and keep guests informed about the status of their reservation. Offer guests waiting areas.
• Assist guests with inquiries about the menu, special requests, or other information.
• Collaborate with servers to ensure a smooth and coordinated dining experience.
• Communicate table assignments and special requests to the serving staff.
• Keep the lobby or waiting area clean, organized, and visually appealing.
• Recognize and acknowledge repeat or VIP guests by providing a personalized and attentive experience.
• Accommodate special requests or arrangements for celebrations, dietary restrictions, etc.
• Promote specials, promotions, or additional services to guests when appropriate.
• Handle credit card and cash transactions and process payments accurately.
• Manage takeout orders, coordinating with kitchen staff and ensuring timely pickup.
• Address and resolve guest concerns or complaints with professionalism and courtesy.
• Communicate effectively with restaurant management and other team members.
• Adhere to Company policies and procedures related to guest services and hospitality.

Must Haves:

• 1+ years in a Host role in a restaurant setting.
• Knowledge of Reservation systems, OpenTable preferred.
• Keen attention to detail
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to handle high-pressure situations and manage multiple tasks.
• Customer-focused mindset with a dedication to providing exceptional service.
• Basic knowledge of restaurant operations.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
