HOSPICE VOLUNTEER

A Path of Care Hospice in Weatherford, OK is seeking a part‑time Hospice Patient Care Volunteer to support patients and families by providing companionship, practical assistance, and emotional support. This role is ideal for someone who is empathetic, dependable, and passionate about helping individuals who are elderly, ill, or nearing the end of life.

What You'll Do as a Hospice Patient Care Volunteer

Volunteers extend the reach of hospice staff by offering companionship and practical support that helps patients remain safely and comfortably at home. Responsibilities may include:

• Providing companionship by sitting with patients, reading to them, or helping them write letters
• Running errands such as grocery shopping or driving patients to appointments
• Assisting with light housekeeping or laundry
• Offering emotional support and encouragement to patients and families
• Helping carry out aspects of the patient's care plan as directed
• Observing and reporting any changes or concerns promptly
• Promoting a safe home environment and reducing risks of accidents

Assignments are matched to your interests and comfort level, ensuring a meaningful and supportive experience for both you and the patient.

Qualifications

• Willingness to complete hospice volunteer training and orientation
• No close personal loss through death within the past year
• Physical ability to bend, stoop, climb stairs, and lift/carry 40+ pounds
• Respectful, patient, and compassionate demeanor
• Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Reliability, punctuality, and good organizational habits
• Ability to remain calm and supportive in emotionally challenging situations

Work Schedule

• Part‑time
• Flexible schedule, Monday through Friday
