Operations Manager

The Operations Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing day-to-day manufacturing operations at the US Farathane Georgetown facility. This position provides leadership to production and operations teams to ensure safe, efficient, high-quality, and cost-effective manufacturing performance while meeting customer requirements and production schedules.

The Operations Manager works closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Materials, Engineering, Human Resources, and other functional leaders to drive plant performance, develop employees, resolve operational issues, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead daily manufacturing operations and ensure production requirements are achieved safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
• Provide leadership, direction, and accountability to Production Supervisors, Team Leads, and production employees.
• Establish and monitor daily production priorities based on customer requirements, production schedules, staffing, equipment availability, and material requirements.
• Monitor key operational metrics including safety, quality, productivity, scrap, downtime, labor efficiency, overtime, attendance, and on-time delivery.
• Review production performance and develop corrective actions when performance does not meet established goals.
• Partner with Maintenance and Engineering to address equipment downtime, recurring machine issues, and process constraints.
• Work closely with Quality to ensure products meet customer specifications and internal quality standards.
• Partner with Materials and Scheduling to ensure appropriate material availability and production flow.
• Identify opportunities to reduce overtime, scrap, downtime, labor costs, and other operational expenses.
• Support and lead continuous improvement, Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, and problem-solving activities.
• Ensure standard work, work instructions, production procedures, and operating practices are followed.
• Drive accountability for adherence to company policies, safety requirements, quality standards, and operating procedures.
• Participate in daily production meetings and communicate operational priorities, issues, and action plans to plant leadership.
• Ensure appropriate staffing levels and coordinate with Human Resources regarding hiring, training, attendance, performance management, employee relations, and workforce planning.
• Develop and coach supervisors and other operations personnel to strengthen leadership capabilities and accountability.
• Address employee performance and operational issues promptly and consistently in partnership with Human Resources.
• Ensure new employees receive appropriate training and that employees are properly trained and qualified for assigned positions.
• Assist with workforce planning and overtime management to meet production requirements while controlling labor costs.
• Support customer requirements, customer visits, audits, and corrective-action activities as needed.
• Promote a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, communication, and continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with applicable company policies, OSHA requirements, environmental requirements, and other applicable regulations.
• Participate in investigations of safety, quality, production, and employee-related incidents as appropriate.
• Maintain effective communication between shifts and departments to ensure consistent execution of production priorities.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Plant Manager.

Leadership Responsibilities

The Operations Manager provides leadership and direction to the plant's production organization and is responsible for ensuring supervisors and frontline leaders understand and execute operational expectations.

Responsibilities include:

• Setting clear expectations and holding leaders accountable for results.
• Conducting regular performance reviews of operational personnel.
• Coaching and developing supervisors and team leaders.
• Building a strong pipeline of future operations leaders.
• Promoting effective communication between shifts.
• Addressing performance and attendance concerns consistently and in partnership with HR.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Manufacturing, Engineering, Business, or a related field; equivalent manufacturing experience may be considered.
• 5+ years of progressive manufacturing or operations leadership experience.
• Experience managing production teams in a manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated experience leading supervisors and frontline employees.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, production planning, labor management, and performance metrics.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Ability to effectively communicate with employees at all levels of the organization.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and manufacturing/ERP systems.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and adjust priorities based on changing customer and production requirements.

Preferred

• Automotive manufacturing experience.
• Injection molding experience.
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, 5S, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
• Experience managing high-volume production operations.
• Experience working with customer-specific requirements and automotive quality systems.
• Experience with cost-reduction and labor-efficiency initiatives.

Physical / Work Environment

This position operates primarily within a manufacturing facility and requires regular presence on the production floor. The employee may be required to stand, walk, climb stairs, and navigate manufacturing equipment and production areas. Appropriate personal protective equipment must be worn as required.

The Operations Manager may be required to work extended hours, weekends, holidays, or varying shifts when necessary to support production requirements and business needs.
