Registered Nurse - Emergency Room

Job Description

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse provides patient-centered care to acutely ill or injured patients of all ages by applying the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The role emphasizes critical thinking, effective communication, accurate documentation, and collaboration to support safe, high-quality outcomes in an Emergency Room setting.

Responsibilities:

• Assess acutely ill patients, determine acuity, and triage/prioritize care based on available resources.
  
• Develop and implement individualized care plans, monitoring and documenting patient condition and response to treatment.
  
• Coordinate care with interdisciplinary teams and ensure delegated tasks are within scope of practice and licensure.
  
• Provide holistic, compassionate care that addresses clinical and emotional/spiritual needs of patients and families.
  
• Facilitate patient transfers and discharge planning while communicating clinical status appropriately.
  
• Perform specimen processing and follow safety procedures per established laboratory guidelines when applicable to the role.
  Qualifications:
  
• Maintain a current Registered Nurse License in the State of Texas (or compact license with the State of Texas).
  
• Hold current BLS certification.
  
• Hold current ACLS and PALS certifications.
  
• Possess at least 2 years' experience as a Registered Nurse in an Emergency Department setting.
  
• Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision using sound clinical judgment.
  
• Exhibit knowledge of applicable federal/state regulations and adherence to safety and clinical policies.
