The Psychiatric NP will provide behavioral health treatment for a wide-variety psychiatric disorders and help with all aspects of patient care including diagnosis, treatment, collaboration and consultations.Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Responsibilities:Assesses the patient’s general mental health condition by collecting medical histories, administering comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and identifying issues that may be affecting the patient’s state of mental health.Interprets and integrates data to determine preliminary diagnosis and creates an individualized therapeutic plan for mental health problems and psychiatric disorders based on evidence-based standards of care and practice guidelines.Prescribes psychotropic drugs and related medications to treat symptoms of psychiatric disorders and improve functional health status based on clinical indications of a patient’s status, including results of diagnostic and lab tests.Identifies, measures, and monitors clinical and related behavioral outcomes to determine the effectiveness and appropriateness of the plan of care.Educates patients and /or family as to the nature of the psychiatric condition and provides appropriate instructions on proper intervention and treatment.Collaborates with the psychiatrists and other staff members in the team in managing acute and long-term medical and psychiatric/mental health needs of patients.Documents medical history and treatment plans effectively, concisely and accurately. Apply now to be a part of our dynamic medical team.What you bring to Refuah/Qualifications:Active NY DEA RegistrationBSN, MSN preferred; successful completion of an approved nurse practitioner psychiatric programCurrent registered nurse license and certification in New York StateMinimum of three years of professional nursing experience in a clinic or hospital setting plus at least one year of psychiatric nurse practitioner experienceKnowledge of professional nursing theory, practices and regulations to give and evaluate patient careKnowledge of drug regimens and their indications, dosing, side effects, and proper administrationKnowledge of current and emerging trends in technologies, techniques, methods, issues and approaches in psychiatryKnowledge of state and federal rules and regulations as they apply to the advanced practice of nursingDisplays exceptional verbal and written communication skillsAbility to react calmly and effectively in emergency situationsAbility to establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, families, and other members of the health care teamEligible to Work in the USPrincipals only.
