Manufacturing Engineer II

Sierra Space is a mission-driven space and defense technology company. The Manufacturing Engineer II role supports process improvements, quality, and manufacturing efficiency. Responsibilities Develop and implement manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, quality, and safety. Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions on manufacturing issues. Lead and participate in process improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma. Perform preventive maintenance tasks to ensure equipment reliability and minimize downtime. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to optimize production processes and resolve technical issues. Assist in the development and documentation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions. Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and engineering drawings to support manufacturing activities. Analyze production data to identify trends and recommend process improvements. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, or related field (or equivalent work experience). 2+ years of related experience. Solid understanding of manufacturing principles and practices. Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., NX). Strong project management and multitasking skills. Experience in process improvement initiatives. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies. Experience in process validation and verification tasks. Basic knowledge of safety regulations and practices. Proficiency in reading technical manuals and schematics. Knowledge of equipment calibration and testing procedures. Preferred Qualifications Advanced degree in aerospace, mechanical, or manufacturing engineering. Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification (e.g., Green Belt, Black Belt). Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities. Track record in a space or aerospace manufacturing setting. In‑depth understanding of spacecraft subsystems. Experience with AS9100 quality standards. Experience in MES, PLM, and ERP implementation. Compensation Pay range: $87,663.00 - $120,558.00, determined on a case‑by‑case basis.
