Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as an instructional assistant, making a tangible difference in the lives of students. This role focuses on providing essential support as a 1:2 paraprofessional, assisting two fifth-grade students—one of whom uses a wheelchair due to cerebral palsy and the other who manages asthma. You’ll be primarily supporting the student with mobility needs, while also being attentive to both children throughout the school day.
With an immediate start available, candidates who complete onboarding promptly will be fast-tracked. Your experience in special education settings is essential, and any medical background you bring will be an asset. Compassion, patience, and a collaborative attitude are keys to thriving in this environment.
Desired Skills & Experience:
- Previous work as a paraprofessional or instructional assistant in a school setting
- Special education expertise, specifically supporting students with physical and health needs
- Medical experience or familiarity with basic healthcare preferred
- Comfortable providing toileting, feeding, and mobility assistance
- Ability to assist students with asthma and physical disabilities
- Reliable, caring, and attentive to students’ daily needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Offer direct support to two students, focusing primarily on a wheelchair-using child
- Aid students during classroom activities, transitions, and personal care routines
- Assist with feeding, toileting, and mobility (lifting, positioning as needed)
- Provide a safe, encouraging learning environment for both children
- Collaborate closely with teachers and related service providers
