Safety Specialist Pay Rate: $30.00/hour on W2 Contract Length: 5 months Work Hours: 1st Shift | 7:00 am - 3:30 pm Raise is currently hiring a Safety Specialist in Quincy, IL on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Overview Facility Safety Specialist based at the Quincy Crush Soy Plant responsible for supporting the daily health and safety functions of the plant. This position reports directly to the Complex Safety Manager. Anywhere between 1-3 years of experience is required. Accuracy to detail Ability to work in both an office setting and in the manufacturing field Ability to work both independently and in team settings. Responsibilities Work closely with department leadership to achieve safety action plan success. Provide constant and consistent leadership, guidance and mentoring along with training and public presentation as necessary. Advise the Plant Safety Manager and their facility management on the status of all Safety Action Plan actions and areas to apply focus and leadership to achieve success. Responsible for compliance data tracking for training, KPIs, and event entry, and reports. Provide administrative support to site with filing, scanning, records retention, PolicyTech, and other safety related document control. Assist in building management and employee dedication and enthusiasm for safety through effective leadership and influence. Engage with the departments in the plant setting and have open communication/feedback with employees at all levels. Relationship building throughout the departments is needed and safety expectations openly discussed. Evaluate the effectiveness of health and safety programs and policies through consistent monitoring and auditing. Knowledge and understanding of a multitude of health, safety regulations and policies with the ability to communicate the requirements effectively and assist the facility with implementation and management. Lead, support and encourage the actions needed that are identified by leading indicators. Provide leadership and accountability for safety reporting requirements in a computer safety management system. Act as a champion and mentor for colleague safety engagement that comes in many forms. Lead or have integral involvement in incident investigations. May include leading and providing oversight of injured colleague cases. Support and drive Continuous Improvement by participating in Performance Excellence and using PE tools in the course of work. Requirements Bachelor’s degree preferred, waivable with experience. Prior work experience in an industrial environment or work experience in a dedicated health and safety position or a related degree in Occupational Health & Safety. Proven ability to recognize hazards, assess risk and recommend controls. Effective oral and written communication skills, including public presentation ability. Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn and utilize other standardized systems. Proven ability to work effectively and enthusiastically on a team. Proven ability to work independently and meet timeline goals. Strong time management, organizational skills and ability to work on several key projects. The position requires the ability to work in a variety of environments: office environment and varying indoor and outdoor environments to include extreme heat and cold. The position requires the ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods as well as climb stairs & bend /stoop frequently. #J-18808-Ljbffr
