Marine Yard Hand (CPM)

We are seeking a reliable, hardworking Marine Yard Hand to join our team at a high-end, full-service boatyard. This position is integral to daily yard operations and requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety. The ideal candidate will work closely with the Yard Foreman to support vessel handling, maintenance, and overall yard efficiency. Key Responsibilities: Assist with hauling, launching, blocking, and moving vessels using a 70-ton travel lift, forklifts, and hydraulic trailers Perform sanding, surface preparation, and bottom painting on a variety of vessels Wash, detail, and prepare boats for service, storage, and delivery Work closely with the Yard Foreman to coordinate daily tasks and yard operations Assist technicians and subcontractors with general service and repair work Handle dock lines and assist with vessel movements both in the water and on land Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment throughout the yard Perform general yard maintenance, including debris removal and facility upkeep Follow all safety procedures and environmental regulations, including proper handling of paints and hazardous materials Qualifications: Prior experience in a boatyard or marine environment preferred Experience with sanding, bottom painting, and surface preparation strongly preferred Ability to operate, or willingness to learn to operate, heavy equipment including travel lifts, forklifts, and trailers Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with management and team members Physically capable of performing demanding outdoor work in varying weather conditions Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship Valid driver’s license required Preferred Skills: Experience operating a 70-ton travel lift Knowledge of vessel blocking and handling procedures Familiarity with marine coatings and bottom paint systems Basic mechanical aptitude Compensation and Benefits: Competitive hourly wage based on experience Health benefits (if applicable) 401(k) plan with company match Paid time off and holidaysOpportunities for growth within a high-end marine service operation This is a hands‑on, outdoor position in a fast‑paced boatyard environment.
